Promotional photos of new foldables
With just a few days to go before Samsung unveils its new foldable smartphones on 22 July, more official-looking marketing images of the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra and Galaxy Z Flip 8 have been leaked. The images provide a good insight into the design and confirm various specifications that had previously been rumoured. The photos were shared by Evan Blass.

The leaked images show that Samsung has given the Galaxy Z Fold 8 a wider design. This should make the device more comfortable for everyday use and for watching videos. Several images also show the outer screen in use, including with apps such as Instagram, giving you a better idea of how the device works when folded.

There also seems to be more clarity now regarding the cameras. The marketing images confirm that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 features a 50-megapixel main camera and a 50-megapixel wide-angle lens. With the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, the emphasis is even more on photography. According to the images, that model will have a 200-megapixel main camera, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera and a 10-megapixel telephoto lens. The Galaxy Z Flip 8, in turn, will feature a 50-megapixel main camera and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera.

We’re also learning more about battery capacity. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra will have a 5,000 mAh battery, whilst the Galaxy Z Flip 8 is equipped with a 4,300 mAh battery. The images do not specify a capacity for the standard Galaxy Z Fold 8, but do mention an estimated video playback time of up to 26 hours. Previous rumours suggested a 4,800 mAh battery.

The marketing images also show that Samsung is clearly positioning the two Fold models differently. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is primarily presented as a device for entertainment and everyday use, whilst the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra focuses on multitasking and creative applications. The images are consistent with what we’ve seen previously. We were also recently shown the new smartwatches.

Although the images do not show side views, they are consistent with previous information regarding the dimensions. According to earlier leaks, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is approximately 4.5 mm thick when unfolded, whilst the Ultra variant is said to be slightly thinner at 4.1 mm.

With the latest set of marketing images, there seems to be very little left to keep secret ahead of the official launch. Samsung will unveil the new foldable smartphones at Galaxy Unpacked on 22 July. According to earlier rumours, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 is set to be Samsung’s final flip phone.
