OnePlus is pulling out of Europe
OnePlus will no longer be launching new products in Europe and North America; this news has just been announced by Oppo, the parent company of OnePlus and Realme. It had been rumoured for some time that OnePlus would be withdrawing from various regions. In recent months, we have seen, amongst other things, the press contacts leave, and OnePlus’s presence in Europe has been steadily scaled back. With the statement Oppo has now issued, OnePlus’s departure is final. The OnePlus 15 and OnePlus 15R are therefore the last products released by the Chinese brand.

The plans
The decision forms part of a wider restructuring within parent company Oppo. At the same time, Oppo has announced that Realme will no longer launch new products in China. From now on, the brand will focus entirely on international markets, with the Scandinavian countries reportedly being a key priority. For OnePlus, however, the opposite is true: according to the company, its product strategy in China remains unchanged.
Oppo states that the changes are intended to make better use of resources and to strengthen collaboration between the various brands within the group. In doing so, the manufacturer will continue to focus on premium smartphones and performance, both through Oppo and through the remaining operations of OnePlus and Realme.

Oppo in Europe
For Europe, this means Oppo will play a greater role. The company reports that its European operations are stable and that the brand holds a strong position in the premium segment. This year saw the release of a Find Ultra device for the first time in a while: the Oppo Find X9 Ultra. We tested this smartphone extensively in our Oppo Find X9 Ultra review.
Current OnePlus users
At the same time, the brand says it remains committed to supporting existing OnePlus users, to ensure the transition goes as smoothly as possible. According to the manufacturer, little will change for existing users. The brand emphasises that after-sales support, software updates and security updates for current devices will continue to be available as normal. Users will therefore retain the support previously promised.
In addition, Oppo aims to accommodate OnePlus users who are interested in switching to a different device. Special switch-over promotions are being prepared in various markets, including the Benelux and the Scandinavian countries. Details of these have not yet been announced.

In conclusion
This move brings an important chapter for OnePlus in Europe to a close. Since the launch of the first OnePlus smartphones, the brand has managed to build up a loyal user base thanks to powerful hardware and relatively competitive pricing. However, new OnePlus devices will no longer be released in Europe and North America.
In our ‘forgotten’ section, we have featured OnePlus devices on several occasions, with the OnePlus One, of course, being a particular focus. In the coming weeks, we will be highlighting various OnePlus devices.
