One UI 8.5 for S25 series and Flip 7 FE
Four Samsung smartphones will be updated to One UI 8.5 from now on. Last week, Samsung already started rolling out the update in home country South Korea. Now it is the turn of European users, including in the Netherlands and Belgium. DroidApp readers Raymond and Jarno report to us that their Galaxy S25 device has received the update. The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, S25, S25+ and the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE will get the big update full of new features. We expect the update in the next few hours or days for many more devices, including the Z Fold 7 and Flip 7. If so, we will update this article.
One UI 8.5 brings several weather-related improvements. Think of the revamped weather widget, as well as weather animations on the lock screen. The weather app now also gives the pollen index, which lets you see how hay fever and allergies are doing. In the camera app, you can now use the new PDF scanner, while a new AI photo editor is also present. Samsung is further adding several improvements in security, where it has also refined the battery management option. From Quick Settings, you can now also choose to take screenshots of part of your screen. Quick sharing via Quick Share has been improved, you can compare two time zones in the clock app and there are improvements for Samsung Health. There are also a host of smaller improvements.
The update can be downloaded from now on for the Samsung Galaxy S25, S25+, S25 Ultra and the Z Flip 7 FE. You will get a notification on your smartphone when it is ready for your smartphone. Through the software settings on your smartphone, you can also manually check for updates. After the update, the devices will continue to run on the April security update. The May update is likely to come as a small additional update later this month.
