Samsung starts One UI 8.5 rollout: these devices get the update

Do you have a Samsung Galaxy smartphone or tablet? Then there might be some good news for you. The manufacturer has started the rollout to One UI 8.5, full of new features. Samsung has released a list of the devices that will be offered the update.

One UI 8.5 is released

After a long testing period, the stable version of One UI 8.5 has officially started rolling out. The update will start in South Korea, but is expected to be available worldwide soon. If all goes according to plan, other regions will follow shortly after. That means you probably won't have to wait long.

Samsung immediately made it clear which devices will be up first. These are mostly recent flagships and high-end tablets. Think of the latest Galaxy S25 series, including the FE variant, and foldable models like the Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7. Previous-generation foldables such as the Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 are also on the list. On the tablet side, the Tab S11 and Tab S10 series, among others, are included.

To be precise, the following models are listed first:

  • Galaxy S25, S25+, S25 Ultra and S25 FE
  • Galaxy Z Fold 7, Flip 7
  • Galaxy Z Fold 6, Flip 6
  • Galaxy Tab S11, Tab S11 Ultra
  • Galaxy Tab S10, Tab S10 Plus, Tab S10 Ultra

Interestingly, a few models are missing. For instance, the Fan Edition variants of some tablets and the Z Flip 7 FE are not mentioned. More expensive niche models like the TriFold are also missing from the list. Why those devices are now left out of the initial rollout, Samsung did not explain.

Still, this does not mean that older or cheaper devices will be skipped. The beta version of One UI 8.5 has previously been tested on the Galaxy S23 series and several devices from the Galaxy A line, among others. Those are therefore expected to follow later, but probably in a subsequent phase.

What exactly you get in terms of new features varies from device to device, but usually updates of this kind revolve around a mix of small improvements, optimisations and subtle design changes. So not a complete makeover, but an update that makes your device feel just a little smoother and more modern. Earlier, the changelog of the update did appear online.
