Xiaomi 18 Ultra with an even better camera?
Xiaomi is making great strides and is now in the news with the Xiaomi 18 Ultra. The device is expected at a later date and will be the successor to the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, released earlier this year. That smartphone has a fantastic camera. You could read about this in the Xiaomi 17 Ultra review, as well as in the comparison with Oppo’s Find X9 Ultra, and we saw huge differences compared to the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
The well-known tipster Digital Chat Station reports that a major smartphone manufacturer is currently testing a 200-megapixel camera sensor in a 1-inch format. Although the manufacturer isn’t named, rumours from multiple sources point to the Xiaomi 18 Ultra.

Xiaomi is one of the few manufacturers that continues to focus on large camera sensors in its Ultra series. This makes it seem likely that the new sensor is intended for this future flagship. The combination of a 200-megapixel sensor and a 1-inch format could represent a significant step forward for smartphone photography. A larger sensor can capture more light, which can be particularly beneficial when taking photos in low-light conditions. The high resolution should also ensure a high level of detail in photos.
According to the tipster, the camera’s key components are now in the testing phase. However, it is not yet clear exactly how far along the development is. It is possible that Xiaomi is currently only testing the new camera sensor and that not all components of the smartphone have been finalised yet.
