Samsung’s August update
In the coming weeks, we expect to see the usual updates from Samsung (and other brands). The August security update was released earlier this week. Samsung has shared details of what it has added to the update itself. We already know that Google has addressed nearly 40 vulnerabilities in Android. The actual number varies from device to device. This is partly because distinctions are made based on the Android version and a device’s technical specifications, amongst other factors.
With the August update, Samsung is addressing 18 of its own vulnerabilities. The list of fixes shows that these relate to various Samsung-specific issues. For example, vulnerabilities have been found and resolved in the clipboard and in Galaxy Themes. The same applies to the Messages, Contacts and Phone apps on your Galaxy. A vulnerability was also found in the MPEG4 codec, which has been resolved with the update.
