Google Pixel Watch 5
According to the leaked information, the Pixel Watch 5 will once again be available in two sizes: 41 mm and 45 mm. You’ll be able to choose from the colours Matte Black, Polished Silver, Satin Pyrite and Champagne Gold. It’s worth noting that the larger 45 mm version is reportedly not available in Champagne Gold. In addition, a range of interchangeable watch straps will be available, as Evan Blass reveals.
In terms of health features, Google appears to be further expanding its existing capabilities. The smartwatch supports the measurement of blood oxygen levels (SpO2) and can detect heart rhythm disorders such as atrial fibrillation. Sleep tracking also remains a key feature of the software.
Sports enthusiasts can count on built-in GPS for tracking outdoor activities. The Pixel Watch 5 will be available in both a Wi-Fi-only model and a version with Wi-Fi and LTE. With the LTE version, you can leave your phone at home whilst out for a run. Whilst running, a virtual coach will also help you maintain your desired pace.
As well as collecting health and fitness data, Google also aims to provide you with greater insight. For example, the smartwatch can draw connections between different metrics, such as whether you sleep better when you meet your daily step target or how your heart rate data is changing. Gemini is also part of Wear OS 7 and should be able to answer questions about your collected data. According to the leaked information, Gemini Intelligence will launch alongside the Pixel Watch 5, and this feature may also become available for older Pixel Watch models at a later date.
There are also some improvements under the bonnet. According to the information, the smartwatch will feature a Snapdragon Wear W5 Gen 2 chip, whilst the RAM and storage capacity will be increased. Storage will double to 64GB and the battery capacity will also increase slightly. The 41 mm version will have a 332 mAh battery, compared to 325 mAh in its predecessor. The 45 mm version will increase from 455 mAh to 465 mAh.
According to the leaked specifications, the displays remain the same as those of the previous generation. However, Google appears to be focusing primarily on additional software features, health insights and the integration of Gemini. A lot of information about the new smartwatch was also leaked on Wednesday.
Announcement
Google will unveil the Pixel Watch 5 alongside the Pixel 11 series on 12 August. According to the leaked information, pre-orders will begin immediately after the announcement and run until around 20 August. A price increase is also expected, depending on the model chosen.
