Battery drain on your Galaxy
Have you noticed that, following the latest software update, your Samsung Galaxy’s battery seems to be draining faster or that your device is getting warmer than usual? If so, you’re not the only one experiencing this issue. More and more users are reporting problems following the roll-out of the July 2026 update.
The reports are mainly appearing on the Samsung Community Forums and primarily concern the Galaxy S25 series and Galaxy S24 series. Owners of the Ultra models in particular seem to be experiencing higher battery consumption and overheating. According to several users, battery consumption has increased significantly since the update. It is striking that some users report that, although they are using their device less actively than before, the battery is still draining faster.
One Galaxy S25 Ultra user claims to have identified WhatsApp as the cause. After installing the update, the app reportedly freezes whilst creating a backup. As a result, WhatsApp remains active in the background, which, according to the user, leads to increased battery consumption.
It is not yet clear whether this is actually the cause of all the reports. However, several users have reported a similar issue with WhatsApp following the installation of the latest software.
Overheating
As well as reduced battery life, several Galaxy users have reported that their smartphones are getting hotter than usual. These complaints also appear to have arisen only after the July update. It is still unclear whether the overheating is directly linked to the increased battery consumption or to the possible WhatsApp bug. Samsung has not yet issued an official statement on this matter.
At present, Samsung has not yet acknowledged the issues. Consequently, it is also unknown whether the company is already working on a solution. As the complaints appear to have started following the July update, it is expected that a subsequent software update may resolve the problem. However, Samsung has not yet confirmed anything in this regard.
