Instagram only lets you use up to 3 hashtags now

A notable change at photo service Instagram. Where previously you could add hashtags endlessly, this has now been capped to a maximum of three. The change seems to be introduced for every user in the coming time.

Fewer hashtags on Instagram

Instagram is a great platform to highlight things. Whether it's a picture of your cat, a beautiful piece of nature or your business. Using hashtags works well for this, and it allows you to be found faster. Interestingly, that very option seems to be changing a bit. Whereas until now you could go your own way with hashtags without restrictions, that no longer seems to be the case.

Instagram Max 3 hashtags

We are getting messages from some users, and we also see on one of our Instagram accounts, a restriction on using up to three hashtags. This does not seem to apply to @DroidAppNL yet, but it does apply to @theTripmeister. It appears to be a test before being rolled out widely, as not every Instagram user seems to be affected. Experts say the new restriction should help find high-quality content. For content creators, it could mean that their posts are less well found.

Unknown is whether Instagram is indeed testing the feature first, before rolling out widely.
