Privacy Display for Xiaomi?
Xiaomi appears to be working on a new privacy feature for its next flagship. According to a well-known tipster, the upcoming Xiaomi 18 Pro series may feature a special screen designed to prevent others from peeking at the screen without being noticed.
The information comes from Digital Chat Station, a source that frequently shares early details about new smartphones. According to the tipster, Xiaomi is currently testing a new 2K screen with built-in privacy screen technology. This is said to be similar to the Privacy Display feature previously introduced on the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra.
Protection against prying eyes
The technology is said to use a combination of hardware and software features to better shield the content on the screen. This makes it more difficult for people sitting next to you to see what you’re looking at when, for example, you’re on the train or using your phone in a public place.
Although the tipster does not explicitly mention the Xiaomi 18 Pro, comments on the original post suggest that it is likely to be the new Xiaomi 18 Pro series.

Possible unveiling in September
According to earlier rumours, Xiaomi is set to unveil the new devices in September. This suggests the manufacturer is sticking to its usual launch window for new flagship models.
There are also further rumours circulating about the Xiaomi 18 Pro and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max. For instance, both models are said to retain the second screen on the back that was previously introduced with the Xiaomi 17 Pro series. That extra screen is, however, set to be larger. Whilst the current generation already features a secondary display, there is talk of a size of around 4.0 inches for the new models.
The other specifications also sound ambitious. The Xiaomi 18 Pro is reportedly set to feature a 6.3-inch screen and a battery capacity of at least 7000 mAh. According to the rumours, the larger Xiaomi 18 Pro Max will have a 6.9-inch screen.
Both devices are said to be powered by the as-yet-unannounced Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset. There is also talk of a dual 200-megapixel rear camera.

Will they be coming to Europe or not?
It remains to be seen whether Xiaomi will release the 18 Pro models in Europe this time round. Although we were able to admire the Xiaomi 17 Pro and Pro Max at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, these devices are not available in our region.
