Xiaomi: smartphones getting more expensive
Xiaomi has announced its quarterly figures, and in them the brand posted an important note. According to the Chinese manufacturer, smartphones will become more expensive next year. In this, Xiaomi expects that other brands will also increase smartphone prices next year. The reason for this would be memory price increases. Although deliveries for next year of memory have already been set, these prices will be higher, top executive Lu Weibing said.
A few years ago, there was a chip shortage, and by committing deliveries, in this case Xiaomi is sure of chips. However, Xiaomi is not the only party angling for chips. With the ever-increasing popularity of AI, more data centres and servers are needed. These too all need chips. And with the higher demand for memory and chips, prices for these are rising.
