Xiaomi 17T Pro preview
As the thermometer hit 30 degrees, Xiaomi presented the new Xiaomi 17T Pro and the Xiaomi 17T yesterday in Vienna. Both models succeed the current 15T series. In our announcement post, we take a closer look at the smartphone's specifications and features. In this article, we take a closer look at the Xiaomi 17T Pro. And check out the blue colour, it looks even sleeker in real life than in the photos. In addition, the phone is available in several other colours, besides Deep Blue, also Deep Violet and Black.
The latest Xiaomi has not deviated hugely from the Xiaomi 15T Pro presented last year. The new model is already here, as the announcement schedule has changed. Whereas previously we got to see devices first in China, now the decision has been made to announce them directly worldwide. According to Xiaomi, the device is even more powerful and faster. And of course there is the gigantic 7000 mAh battery. We will get to work on that in detail in the Xiaomi 17T Pro review, which will come online later.
Walking in the Austrian sunshine, past the Vienna State Opera, the Museumsquartier, Stephansdom, Donauturm, the city park and many other sights in Vienna, we test the Xiaomi 17T Pro's camera. The smartphone camera starts up quickly and captures images quickly. As we are used to from Xiaomi, the colours are nicely saturated with nice colours. If you want more of a natural look, you can opt for the Leica Authentic style, which gives you more natural tones. We shot the photos in this article on Vibrant mode, with the rich colours.
Interestingly, both models, both the 17T and the 17T Pro have a 5x zoom lens. The sensor in the Pro model is a bit larger though, so this should benefit it in evening shots. We will elaborate on this in the review. As for the zoom lens, it is noticeable that the images are of high quality. Zoomed in, you get 5x your subject closer. There is also 10x zoom, which we used with the text on the building. This is not optical, but it is optical quality.

The photos are of high quality. This phone will do just fine on your city trip. However, we do sometimes see a slightly flatter picture. We will continue to work on that in the near future. Software
We know the software on the Xiaomi 17T Pro from the other models. Over Android 16, we find HyperOS 3. This proprietary skin from Xiaomi has improved a lot compared to a few years back. It might take some getting used to, though, if you're used to a different skin. In the skin, you can customise various things, so you can personalise it completely to your liking. Think of options like the Always On Display, the lock screen and other things.
