Xiaomi 17T (Pro) announced in Vienna
Whereas in recent years the German city of Munich was chosen as the venue for the announcement of the T series, today is different. DroidApp travelled to Austria, where Xiaomi presented its new T devices in Vienna. The Xiaomi 17T and Xiaomi 17T Pro are the latest high-end devices in the T series, complementing the Xiaomi 17(review) and Xiaomi 17 Ultra(review) released earlier this year. Those devices already feature the Leica camera, but now these two models in the T series also offer that.
The camera is therefore the main feature of the smartphones in the Xiaomi 17T and Xiaomi 17T Pro. Both devices offer a 5x zoom camera, though the Pro model's sensor is a bit larger. A larger sensor ensures that more light is captured, which in turn ensures less noise and sharper details in low light. It can also capture even nicer depth of field.
Thanks to the Leica lens, even the smallest details should show up in photos. So you can use macro photography at 30cm, as well as 10x optical quality zoom. You can zoom in even further with the 120x AI Ultra zoom. In the camera app, you can again choose two styles, so the colours match what you like. Through Leica Live Moment, never again is a selfie a failure. Because you it captures the moment just before taking the actual picture. The two 17T models also let you film in 4K, with the Pro model also letting you do so at 60fps.
Other details
Xiaomi further highlights its thin screen bezels, Vision Care screen that is less damaging to the eyes and huge batteries. The Xiaomi 17T Pro comes with a 7000 mAh battery, where the 17T boasts a hefty battery as well; 6500 mAh.
It is notable that the new T series is already being announced. The Xiaomi 15T and Xiaomi 15T Pro were announced late last year. These have now dropped considerably in price and are still definitely worth considering. Especially the Pro model, which was labelled best smartphone of 2025 by us last year.
Specifications and features
Still, we see some differences between the two models. We highlight those a little better below.
The Xiaomi 17T is the entry-level model with already good specifications and features. There is a 6.59-inch AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate. The resolution comes out to 2756 x 1268 pixels. The device offers IP68 certification against dust and water, and protection comes via Corning Gorilla Glass 7i. Xiaomi delivers the device with the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra chipset, Along with 12GB of working memory and 256GB/512GB of storage. You can insert a physical SIM card into the device and use eSIM. As for cameras, there is the 50-megapixel main camera, 50-megapixel 5x zoom telephoto lens, 12-megapixel wide-angle lens and a 32-megapixel front camera. The 6500 mAh battery can be 65W wired charging.
At the Xiaomi 17T Pro is even more comprehensive. This device offers a 6.83-inch 144Hz display with a resolution of 2772 x 1280 pixels. On board you'll find the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset, along with 12GB of RAM and 256GB/512GB of storage. The 7000 mAh battery can be charged with 100W or 50W wirelessly. Again, we see Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protection and IP68 certification. Also, the 17T Pro can handle WiFi 7. In terms of photography, there is a 50-megapixel main camera, 50-megapixel telephoto lens, 12-megapixel wide-angle lens and a 32-megapixel front camera.
Price and availability
Important, of course, is the price. Xiaomi is releasing the 17T Pro in Deep Blue, Black and Deep Violet. The 17T comes in Black, Opal White, Violet and Blue. The most comprehensive model comes out in configurations 12GB+ 256GB/512GB and 1TB, the standard model with 12GB+ 256GB/512GB. For the Pro model, the price starts at €899.90, where the 17T starts at €749.90.
