Waze is getting some improvements
One of the biggest changes is that Waze will now learn from your previous journeys. Based on your driving history, the app can suggest routes that better suit your preferences. Do you prefer to drive on motorways rather than through residential areas, or vice versa? Waze will take this into account when suggesting future routes.
The app is also introducing a new ‘less chatty’ voice mode worldwide. This setting ensures you receive fewer spoken directions whilst driving. This means you’ll be interrupted less often and can more easily carry on listening to your favourite music or podcast.
Motorcyclists
There’s good news for motorcyclists too. Waze is adding a special motorbike mode. According to the company, this feature uses AI to take into account routes and restrictions that apply specifically to motorbikes. This should result in a better route and a more accurate estimated time of arrival. In addition, a team of staff will continue to add traffic information and reports of road hazards to the map. The motorbike mode will initially be rolled out in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Malaysia, Mexico, Peru and the Philippines. Waze says more countries will follow later.
The Gemini features within Waze are also being expanded. With Conversational Reporting, you can use natural spoken reports to notify other road users of road closures and other map changes. This feature is now available on Android and iOS.
In addition, Waze is working on a new chat feature that allows you to easily ask questions whilst on the move, such as where to find a petrol station with low fuel prices or an open café. This feature is currently being tested in the app’s beta version.
