Red spot on the Galaxy S26 Ultra screen
There are reports circulating online about issues with the display of the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra. Several users have reported seeing a red spot on the screen. Complaints have recently surfaced on platforms including Reddit and a Korean forum. Some users noticed a rectangular red discolouration appearing in the centre of the screen. This mainly occurred when the brightness was set to maximum and the phone was being used in a brightly lit environment.

As the discolouration remained visible, some users feared that the OLED screen was damaged. Samsung has now responded to the reports, stating that it is not a hardware fault. Nor is it a case of screen burn-in. So there is nothing wrong with the hardware, and according to Samsung, the problem can be resolved with a software update.
According to the company, the discolouration is caused by a screen optimisation in combination with the new LEAD 2.0 Privacy Display technology. This technology utilises a modified screen structure in which the traditional OLED polariser has been omitted. This is intended to reduce energy consumption and improve colour transmission, but also requires precise colour calibration.
It is precisely this colour calibration that appears to be the cause of the red spot. Samsung is therefore working on a software fix to resolve the issue. The manufacturer has announced that the necessary update is currently being prepared and will be available shortly. An exact release date has not yet been given.
