Samsung Galaxy Glasses on the way
It looks very much like Samsung is going to officially name its first smart glasses Samsung Galaxy Glasses. That name has not yet been announced in a big way, but it did turn up in a recent update to a system app on Galaxy devices. This actually quietly confirms the existence of the glasses.
The clue comes from the app for scanning nearby devices, which you use to quickly connect to earbuds or smartwatches, for example. The latest update makes explicit reference to pairing "glasses", including features such as a battery notification. This suggests that Galaxy Glasses will soon be as easy to connect as, say, Galaxy Buds.

According to earlier rumours, the glasses will have a 12-megapixel camera and run on a dedicated chip for augmented reality. Interestingly, there would be no screen inside. Instead, Samsung seems to be aiming for a lighter and simpler experience, with the glasses mainly serving as an extension of your phone. Think taking photos, receiving notifications or audio functions via Bluetooth.
The battery would be relatively small, which makes sense given the compact design. That probably means you'll need to charge the glasses regularly, but also that they will remain comfortable to wear. Support for WiFi and Bluetooth ensures that you can use it flexibly, both independently and paired with other devices.
Samsung is expected to present the Galaxy Glasses at an upcoming Unpacked event, presumably in the summer. Until then, it will remain hints and leaks, but the picture is getting clearer.
