Updates for the Galaxy A37 will be less frequent
If you own a Samsung Galaxy A37, there’s been a change to the update schedule. Just four months after its launch, Samsung has switched the smartphone from monthly to quarterly security updates. This is striking, as Samsung normally doesn’t make this change for devices in the Galaxy A series until much later.
The Galaxy A37 was announced in March and will now receive only four security updates a year, instead of twelve. Although the frequency of updates is decreasing, Samsung is sticking to its original update commitment. At the launch, the company promised six major Android version upgrades and six years of security updates. According to Samsung, this will not change.
Nevertheless, the early switch to a quarterly schedule is striking. Mid-range Galaxy A devices normally continue to receive monthly security updates for a longer period before moving to a less frequent schedule.
The July update is still missing
It is also striking that the Galaxy A37 has not yet received the July 2026 security update. Many other Samsung devices have already received this update, including even the older Galaxy A33. For Galaxy A37 users, this means that security patches will now be released approximately once every three months.
For the time being, this change appears to apply only to the Galaxy A37. According to the current schedule, the Galaxy A57, which was announced at the same time, will continue to receive monthly security updates. It is not known why Samsung has switched the A37 to a quarterly schedule so quickly. The company has not provided any explanation for this.
