Pixel Watch encounters problems after update, first fix is here

Google has released an update for the Pixel Watch watches. And that immediately brought problems. Fortunately, there is now a fix that addresses one issue, but there is still another problem.

Problems with Pixel Watch

Users of the Pixel Watch have experienced problems with two built-in features in recent days. In particular, the handy option to find a lost smartphone no longer worked as intended for many users. Google now seems to have fixed that problem, but the ECG app still continues to exhibit glitches for some owners of the smart watch.

The glitch affected the 'Find my phone' feature, which allows you to ring a paired smartphone from your watch. Instead of the phone ringing, the app got stuck on the startup screen and eventually closed itself. The problem was reported by users of the Pixel Watch 3 and Pixel Watch 4, among others.

Google has since rolled out a fix. According to users, the feature works normally again, both via quick settings and from the watch's app drawer. This makes one of the most practical smartwatch features fully usable again.

ECG

The situation is different for the ECG app. This application, which allows you to take a heart monitor, does open, but immediately gives an error message for some users. The app then asks to restart, without solving the problem. The glitch seems to occur mostly on recent Pixel Watch models, although the notifications are not the same for everyone.

Interestingly, the problems have only surfaced recently. The last major software update for the Pixel Watch appeared back in March 2026. As a result, it seems likely that a recent app update is the cause, although Google has yet to provide an official explanation.

By the way, those who lost their phones can use an alternative route for now. Indeed, via Gemini on the Pixel Watch, it is still possible to have your smartphone found.

So for now, the situation seems half resolved: the 'Find my phone' feature is working again as expected, while users of the ECG app still have to wait for a final solution from Google. For those who regularly use the Pixel Watch's health features, this is something to keep an eye on. Earlier, Pixel Watch owners also experienced problems with the pedometer after an update, and about poor battery life.
