Two large sensors being tested
According to the well-known source Digital Chat Station, Oppo is testing two 50-megapixel sensors for the Find X10 Ultra’s secondary camera. Both sensors measure 1/1.95 inches, which is considerably larger than the sensor used in the current Find X9 Ultra for 10x optical zoom.
The choice is between the Samsung ISOCELL GNB and the OmniVision OV51A. Both also support telemacro photography, allowing you to take sharp photos even at close range with the telephoto lens. It is not yet known which of the two sensors will ultimately be used in the device.
Another powerful telephoto camera
Previous rumours had already suggested that Oppo intends to equip the Find X10 Ultra with a 200-megapixel telephoto camera for zooming at shorter distances. Two sensors are reportedly still under consideration for this as well, with sizes of 1/1.3 inch or even 1/1.12 inch. This means that Oppo is still testing various options for both telephoto cameras before finalising the design.
The current Oppo Find X9 Ultra already boasts an impressive camera setup, as we demonstrated in our in-depth Oppo Find X9 Ultra review. That device has a 200-megapixel telephoto camera for 3x optical zoom with a 1/1.28-inch sensor, as well as a 50-megapixel camera for 10x optical zoom with a smaller 1/2.75-inch sensor.
If Oppo does indeed switch to a 1/1.95-inch sensor for the 10x camera, that would, on paper, represent a significant increase in sensor size. A larger sensor can capture more light, which generally improves image quality, particularly in low-light conditions.
An official announcement is likely still some way off. The Find X9 Ultra was announced in April and went on sale in May. Its successor is therefore not expected until much later.
