Oppo Find X9 Ultra announced
In recent times, the necessary news about the Oppo Find X9 Ultra has already come out. Today, the manufacturer has announced the new device in the Find X9 series. Earlier, we published the Oppo Find X9 Pro review. That device already scored highly with its camera, which should make the Find X9 Ultra even better. Oppo is teaming up with Hasselblad again and, according to the manufacturer, the Find X9 Ultra's camera should be even better than we have seen before. That means the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra and the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, which we previously compared in an extensive camera comparison, can get their teeth wet.

Camera
The Oppo Find X9 Ultra features the new Master Lens Design, with Oppo promising even better photo quality. This along with a new 'Hasselblad Master Camera System'. The main camera is a 200-megapixel lens, which has been co-developed with Sony. It is the largest 200MP sensor used in a smartphone. Thanks to the f/1.5 aperture, it lets a lot of light through, which improves quality. With this, the device offers a 50-megapixel wide-angle lens which also lets in more light. Then there is the 200 megapixel 3x telephoto lens, which is again the largest telephoto sensor used in a smartphone. Here again, the Chinese manufacturer promises improvements, with the main camera letting in almost 9x more light than in the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra. The telephoto lens can also be used for 15mm macro shots. There is a fourth lens: the 50 megapixel 10x telephoto lens with 10x optical zoom up to 230mm. In addition, this lens lets you zoom 20x in optical quality, at 460mm (hybrid zoom).
Thanks to several improvements in technology, the company promises that several features will improve your photos. This will allow you to take photos in 200 megapixels without compromise. Also, several AI features should combat noise. The special, physical True Colour Camera will make your photos better because all information about colours are collected by this sensor. This should also be noticed when moving and taking photos. Special styles ensure the best photo in different conditions. For instance, there is the Hasselblad Master Mode with many tools to customise, and there is a special portrait mode. All this in a revamped camera app, which should be even more refined.

If all this is not enough, you can use the teleconverter lens. You place this on the camera that allows you to bring your subject even closer. It provides a 300-millimetre focal length with full quality.
There is also an Explorer Case, which offers an extra camera grip, with a built-in battery. This provides just a little more grip on the camera with extra buttons. Ideal while shooting. You can also run a 67-millimetre filter on it.
In terms of videography, the Oppo features 4K 60fps video capability on all lenses, including support for Dolby Vision. The main and 3x telephoto lenses also offer 4K 120fps support. On the main camera, you can also opt for 8K 30fps quality. Professionals can use the O-Log2 with ACES support.

Design and specs
The Oppo comes available in two flavours: Tundra Umber, featuring a black design with a faux leather trim. And Canyon Orange, clad in orange with a matte finish. The smartphone is IP68 and IP69 certified, so dust and water won't be a problem. The weight of the smartphone comes out to 236 grams for the Tundra Umber variant and 235 grams for the Canyon Orange. On board the device you will find the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset.
On the front is the 6.8-inch QHD+ display, which can handle a variable refresh rate of 1-120Hz, with some games being 144Hz. The battery has grown huge again. The Oppo Find X9 Ultra offers a battery capacity comes out to 7050 mAh, which is a silicon-carbon battery. You can charge this with 100W, or wirelessly with 50W. There is 12GB of working memory, while storage comes out to 512GB.

Software
The Oppo Find X9 Ultra comes to market with ColorOS 16, which is based on Android 16, which we already know from other Oppo phones. With Live Space, shortcuts to notifications or, for example, your active music player appear at the bottom of the screen. What we know from OnePlus is AI Mind Space. It allows analysing information on the screen. With the new AI Bill Manager, the tool can provide insight into your income and expenses, for example from a receipt you photograph.
AI Mind Pilot integrates various AI services such as Perplexity, DeepSeek and Gemini to answer your question. As a result, you won't have to use another app. However, this service will be released in Asia first, and only in Europe at a later stage. AI Menu Translation is another new feature, which translates the menu into a language foreign to you. In doing so, it can also look further into, for example, ingredients and pictures of the dish. Also, Quick Share can handle Apple products, as Samsung previously made available for the Galaxy S26 series.
In terms of updates, the Oppo Find X9 Ultra can count on five Android updates and six years of security updates. This is shorter than competitors like the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
Availability
Oppo will release its new Oppo Find X9 Ultra in Europe from 7 May. The smartphone has a recommended retail price of 1699 euros.
