New details: Samsung Galaxy S27 Pro will be fourth device in S27 series

The Samsung Galaxy S27 series will consist of four devices. This becomes clear from reports from South Korean media. Information about the new Samsung Galaxy S27 Pro has now surfaced, talking about a screen size of 6.47 inches.

Galaxy S27 Pro is on the way

Samsung appears to be making a notable change to its Galaxy S series next year. According to new rumours, the company is working on a fourth flagship model: the Galaxy S27 Pro. This would expand the familiar line-up of three devices to four variants. Earlier, reports about the new device also circulated.

The information comes from South Korea and points to a device with a 6.47-inch OLED display. This would make the S27 Pro slightly larger than the standard model, but remain smaller than the Ultra version. With this, Samsung seems to want to appeal to a new segment: users who want premium features without immediately carrying around a huge pocket-sized device.

The Galaxy S series traditionally consists of a standard model, a Plus version and an Ultra model. The Ultra in particular focuses on maximum performance, cameras and extra features. At the same time, many users actually opt for the more compact base models because of their handier size. It seems Samsung is now trying to position something in between.

Interestingly, earlier rumours already spoke of a device with more premium specifications in a smaller design. So possibly the Galaxy S27 Pro will be a more powerful alternative for people who don't want a big smartphone. Think better cameras, more luxurious materials or extra features normally found only on the Ultra.

At the moment, it is not yet clear exactly how Samsung will differentiate the device from the rest of the series. That is also the biggest challenge. An additional model must have enough of its own identity to not simply feel like a minor variant with minimal differences.

There were already rumours of a similar strategy last year, but then it ended up sticking to minor tweaks to the existing models. Now Samsung seems to be getting more serious about expanding the S line.

Whether the Galaxy S27 Pro actually appears, we probably won't know until early 2027 when Samsung traditionally presents its new S-series. But if the rumours are true, it could just become an interesting middle ground between compact and high-end.
