Moto G series expanded
Motorola has presented its new Moto G series, with the Moto G87 as the most comprehensive model. This device targets those who want just a bit more than a standard mid-range device. The 200 megapixel main camera is the most important addition. In practice, this mainly means more detail in photos and better performance in lower light, although the difference with lower resolutions still depends on how you use the camera. The device also has a large 6.78-inch OLED screen with 120Hz, and there is a 5200mAh battery.

Under the bonnet, the Moto G87 runs on a MediaTek chip with 5G support. The software is based on a relatively clean Android version, supplemented with a few extra features for security and personalisation, as we have come to expect from Motorola.

Moto G47
Other devices
Apart from the G87, Motorola is also releasing three simpler models: the Moto G47, Moto G37 Power and Moto G37. Each of these targets a different type of user. The Moto G47 is particularly interesting if you care about photography, with a 108-megapixel camera and similar screen performance to the G87, but with slightly less powerful hardware. The Moto G37 Power, on the other hand, puts the focus on battery life: with a 7000 mAh battery, you can last longer without recharging in between, which is handy if you're on the move a lot. The Moto G37 is the entry-level model and offers the basics: a 50-megapixel camera, 5G and a smooth screen, without any extra luxuries.

Moto G37
What makes this series clear is that each model has a clear purpose. The Moto G87 is the most complete option, while with the others you choose based on priority: better camera (G47), longer battery life (G37 Power) or lower price (G37). All three models get one Android update and three years of security updates. With the Moto G87, you can expect three Android updates and four years of security updates.
