Google starts repair programme for Pixel 9 series for screen issues

Google has announced a repair programme for several Google Pixel 9 series models. Several models are suffering from screen issues, and the programme will now address that. In the process, Google will fix the problem for free.

Google Pixel 9: repair programme

Google has announced that a comprehensive repair programme will be set up for several models from last year's Pixel 9 series. Three models are involved: the Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL and the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. These three models could be affected by some screen issues. In recent times, we have seen some issues popping up here and there. For instance, some users are experiencing a flickering screen, or a vertical stripe across the screen.

Through an online tool, users can check if their device is eligible for the repair programme. If so, and your device is affected by a screen defect, Google will deal with it. Google will give these customers a free screen replacement, up to three years after purchase. The screen replacement comes with a 90-day warranty.

Google mentions that only for the screen problems mentioned, the repair programme can be addressed in this way. If there is more damage, such as water damage or a cracked screen, the application may be rejected or additional payment may be required.

This is not the first time Google has set up a repair programme for a Pixel phone. For instance, we saw it before with battery problems on the Pixel 7a.
