Garmin Cirqa Smart Band
Garmin has announced the new Cirqa Smart Band. It is the brand’s first screenless smart band and is aimed at users who want to track their health and activity without constantly looking at a screen. You can view the data via the Garmin Connect app, and no subscription is required.
The most striking feature of the Cirqa Smart Band is its minimalist design. The tracker has no display and is designed to cause as little distraction as possible during your daily activities. Thanks to its fabric strap, you can wear it comfortably all day long, either on your wrist or your upper arm. This makes the band reminiscent of Google’s Fitbit Air, which was recently announced.
Despite the lack of a screen, the smartband tracks all sorts of health data day and night. Among other things, it measures your heart rate, Body Battery, stress levels, Pulse Ox, skin temperature and sleep. You’ll also receive a sleep score, insights into different sleep stages, HRV status, breathing and naps. All information is automatically synchronised with Garmin Connect.
For women, additional features are available, such as tracking the menstrual cycle and pregnancy. Based on skin temperature whilst sleeping, the band can also make more accurate predictions regarding the menstrual cycle and ovulation. Synchronisation with the Natural Cycles app is also possible, although this does require a separate subscription.
The Cirqa Smart Band also has a lot to offer when it comes to sport. The tracker supports more than 80 different activities, around twenty of which are recognised automatically. Activities can be adjusted retrospectively in Garmin Connect. The more often you do this, the better the band will automatically recognise future activities.
You also get access to advanced training metrics, such as VO2 Max, HRV status, training status, training fitness, training effect and recovery time. For outdoor activities, the band uses your smartphone’s GPS. Via LiveTrack, you can share your location with friends or family whilst you’re out and about.
According to Garmin, the battery lasts up to ten days. Garmin is releasing the Cirqa Smart Band in several colours, including black, French Grey, Captain Blue, Mauve, Citron Grey, Dark Olive and French Blue. It will be available in two sizes: S-M and L-XL.
