Sony Xperia 1 VIII appears online
Sometimes something leaks out via rumours, and sometimes it goes a little more directly. Indeed, the new Sony Xperia 1 VIII has accidentally appeared on Amazon websites in Germany and the UK. With that, not only specifications are on the street, but also a possible release date and price. Earlier, renders showing the new design appeared.
According to the listing, you can expect the device from 26 June. That gives a pretty good idea of when Sony plans to officially release its new flagship. Still, it is mainly the price that stands out. In Germany, the device was listed for €1868.99, while the UK price is in the same direction when converted.

It is good to keep a guard up there, though. Early listings like this are not always definitive and may include estimates. In this case, it also comes with a bonus: a set of Sony headphones is included.
Looking at the specifications, Sony seems to be sticking to its familiar formula. You get a 6.5-inch OLED screen with a refresh rate of 120Hz. On the camera front, Sony again opts for a versatile setup. The Xperia 1 VIII gets three lenses, including an ultra-wide angle, a standard lens and a telephoto lens. The latter has a focal length of 70 mm, which is especially useful if you want to zoom in without losing quality. With this, Sony clearly continues to target users who take photography seriously.
It is also notable that the device still has a 3.5 mm headphone jack. This is the exception rather than the rule these days, but a plus for lovers of wired audio. Sony also promises a battery life of around two days, though of course this depends heavily on how you use the device.
New software is also likely to play a part, with something dubbed "Xperia AI". What exactly that means is not yet clear, but it will presumably revolve around smarter camera features and optimisations in everyday use.
In terms of looks, you can choose from colours such as black, silver and red. Images of the device itself are still missing from these leaks, but previous information points to a slightly tweaked camera design.
