ABRP 7.1 makes charging stops even clearer for EV drivers

For those with an electric car, ABRP is a great tool. An update for ‘A Better Route Planner’ to version 7.1 makes the application even better. The beloved service adds a revamped design for charging stations, along with even more improvements.

A Better Route Planner has released version 7.1, and that update is mainly about smarter and clearer charging on the go. The popular electric car route planner gets an updated charging station design, expanded search filters and new live information on your phone's lock screen. The update follows the previously released ABRP 7.0 update, which was a major update for the service.

One of the biggest changes is in the charging station details screen. That section has been completely redesigned so you can see faster whether a charging station is suitable for your ride. Available charging stations and current occupancy are now directly at the top of the screen. Photos, nearby facilities and interesting locations are also easier to find.

In addition, the Charger Finder has been considerably expanded. You can now filter by charging speed, network, plug type, payment card and available facilities. For instance, if you are looking for a quick charger with a restaurant or coffee shop nearby, you can filter specifically on that. The results appear as clear maps with photos, ratings and information on availability.

The map view while driving has also been addressed. Charging points on your route now show more compact information, such as the network logo, expected charging time and maximum charging speed. According to ABRP, this should help keep the map calmer and more readable, especially on routes with many charging options.

For iPhone users, the app also introduces new Live Activities. These allow you to view live information on the lock screen while charging or navigating, without constantly opening the app. Think of the progress of a charging session or current route information. It is unknown whether the developer team is working on this feature for Android.
