Xiaomi 17T announcement on May 28

On 28 May, the curtain will be pulled back on the new Xiaomi 17T series. This becomes clear from a teaser shared by Xiaomi. While not much is officially told yet, a few things do become clear. For instance, in the picture we can see the camera module, containing the Leica logo. This means that, as with the current Xiaomi 15T and Xiaomi 15T Pro, it is collaborating with camera manufacturer Leica. This is also being done with the high-end models. As you have read in our Xiaomi 17 Ultra review and the review of the Xiaomi 17, this makes for brilliant photos.

Earlier, the new models were leaked. Now too, new information has surfaced about the smartphones. This courtesy of a Russian retailer, which has slung the necessary specifications on the worldwide web.

According to the leaks, the standard Xiaomi 17T will get a 6.59-inch AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 120 Hz and a resolution of 1268 x 2756 pixels. Under the bonnet is a MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra chip, combined with 12GB of working memory. On the back, you'll find three cameras: a 50-megapixel main camera, an additional 50-megapixel sensor and a 12-megapixel camera. For selfies, there is a 32-megapixel camera.

Most striking is the battery capacity of 6,500 mAh, which is considerably larger than many current smartphones. With this, Xiaomi seems to be explicitly targeting users who want to go a long time without a charger.

The Xiaomi 17T Pro goes one step further. This model gets a larger 6.83-inch AMOLED display with also 120Hz, but with a slightly higher resolution. In addition, the device is said to run on the more powerful MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset.

Again, we see 12GB of RAM and a similar camera setup with three lenses of 50 megapixel, 50 megapixel and 12 megapixel. The selfie camera remains identical at 32 megapixels. The battery grows even to 7000 mAh in the Pro model, which is exceptionally large for a high-end smartphone.

The leaked prices are quite high when converted, although direct comparisons remain tricky due to exchange rates and regional taxes. The Xiaomi 17T would start around converted $700, while the 17T Pro is heading towards $950 for the entry-level model. The most expensive variant with 1TB storage would even exceed $1,100. We will find out all the details on 28 May. DroidApp will of course keep you updated! With this, the 17T series comes earlier than the 15T series, which was presented in September last year.
