'Xiaomi 16 comes earlier and gets huge battery'

Xiaomi recently announced the new Xiaomi 15 and 15 Ultra. Now there are rumours about the Xiaomi 16. According to rumours, the new device is coming earlier than expected. And with it, we can expect a hefty battery.

Xiaomi 16 in rumour circuit

Although the official announcement is yet to follow, more and more rumours are now circulating about the Xiaomi 16. Xiaomi's new flagship appears to be taking a step forward in several areas. We previously discussed the predecessor of this model, 'the 15' in detail in the Xiaomi 15 review.

One of the most striking aspects of the Xiaomi 16 is its battery. The device is said to be currently being tested with a battery of a whopping 6800 mAh. For a smartphone with a relatively small size, this is unprecedentedly large. However, we are curious to know if the global version of the device will also get this large battery. The previously released Xiaomi 15 Ultra, for instance, has a smaller battery in our region than in China. According to rumours, the battery can be charged with 100W. The screen would be slightly larger than the current 15, but how big it will be is not known.

Xiaomi 15 review

Xiaomi will equip the new Xiaomi 16 with the new Snapdragon 8 Elite 2nd generation. Xiaomi is expected to be the first manufacturer to put this processor in a device. The early availability of this chipset in the Xiaomi 16 also seems to coincide with an early release of the device itself. Whereas the Xiaomi 15 was only presented in October, the successor seems to be unveiled as early as September.

On the camera front, improvements also seem to be on the horizon. The Xiaomi 16 is rumoured to get a 50-megapixel main camera. In addition, the device might also feature a periscope lens, which would provide greatly improved zoom capabilities. Currently, a 'single' telephoto lens is still present on the device.
