'Samsung working on Galaxy AI tool that converts photo into video'

Samsung has been betting heavily on artificial intelligence since the last few generations of smartphones. With a new version of Galaxy AI, a feature should become available that allows you to turn a photo into a video. Clues to this have now surfaced.

Photo becomes video with Galaxy AI

Samsung may soon expand its Galaxy AI offering with a new feature that converts still images into short videos. The feature has not yet been officially announced, but is shared by well-known leaker PandaFlashPro and appears to be intended for future Galaxy smartphones. While details on its exact operation are still missing, everything points to Samsung preparing for the next step in visual AI.

Interestingly, this feature is not entirely new within the market. Honor previously showed off a similar image-to-video tool on the Honor 400 Pro. That tool, based on Google's Veo 2 model, turns one photo into a five-second video with realistic movement. Whether Samsung's technology resembles something similar or follows its own way is not yet clear.

What is certain is that Samsung has invested heavily in Galaxy AI in recent years. Examples include the extensive capabilities on the Galaxy S25 series. This positions Samsung as one of the most progressive manufacturers in the field of mobile AI applications.

The new image-to-video functionality seems to continue this line. It is not known whether Google is involved in the development, but the collaboration between the two companies is close. Google Gemini is now the default assistant on Galaxy devices, and previous AI features have emerged from joint efforts.

Samsung is expected to possibly introduce the tool at its upcoming Unpacked event this summer. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 are likely to be unveiled then, and it is likely that these models will be the first to get access to the new AI capability. Last year, the Drawing Assist feature debuted on the Z Fold 6; the new photo-to-video feature would be a logical next step.
