Samsung makes its first announcement about the Galaxy S26 series. A teaser highlights the first upcoming feature: the Privacy Display. It should be one of the key-features of the device.

Samsung teaser for Galaxy S26

Samsung has shared the first teaser for the Galaxy S26, highlighting a new screen privacy feature. In a series of short videos, the company shows how the so-called 'Privacy display' helps you shield sensitive information when using your phone in public.

You probably recognise it: you check your phone on the train or in a café and someone can look in unnoticed. Until now, special privacy screen protectors in particular offered a solution for this, by making the screen unreadable from an oblique viewing angle. Samsung now seems to be integrating this approach directly into the device, especially on the Galaxy S26 Ultra. Earlier reports about this were circulating, now it seems to be becoming more definitive.

According to Samsung, the company is "soon to introduce a new privacy feature to protect your phone from looking over your shoulder wherever you are". Although the name 'Privacy display' is not literally mentioned in the announcement, that name previously surfaced in a screenshot Samsung itself shared. The teaser makes it clear that this feature will be part of the Galaxy S26 series, although it is not entirely clear whether all three devices will get this feature.

In the videos shown, you can see that the screen content fades or disappears as soon as you look at it from an oblique angle. This ensures that only you, right in front of the screen, can see the information clearly. This is Samsung's response to situations where your privacy is important, such as while reading messages or viewing personal data.

Another new feature is that it does not work on an 'all or nothing' principle. In fact, you can choose which parts of the screen get extra protection. Think notifications, specific apps or moments when you enter sensitive information, such as a password. This keeps privacy protection targeted and flexible, without constantly shielding the entire screen.

Samsung has not yet shared exact details on how the feature will be set or to what extent you can customise it. However, the company does stress that the privacy feature will be available for Galaxy devices very soon, clearly referring to the upcoming Galaxy S26 series.

The official launch of the Galaxy S26 models is expected in late February.
