'Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra gets privacy display: here's how it works'

It looks like Samsung is equipping the Galaxy S26 Ultra with a privacy display. This will prevent people next to you from being able to see, what is on the screen. Now we get to see how this feature will work in practice.

Privacy display on Galaxy S26 Ultra

Samsung is expected to release the new Samsung Galaxy S26 series in February. The new phone series will consist of at least three models, including the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra. The successor to the Galaxy S25 Ultra, released in 2025, will reportedly feature a so-called privacy display. A special layer over the screen ensures that those next to you, cannot see what is happening on the screen of your smartphone. If you want this at the moment, you can opt out of a special privacy screen protector, but Samsung is reportedly looking to implement it on the device.

This is a feature that you can turn on or off yourself. When enabled, you as a user can read the screen clearly, but those next to you cannot, even with the screen at its highest brightness. There is no reduction in colour or brightness, the source reveals. To the people next to you, it looks like the screen is black.

According to the source, the feature, called 'Privacy View', can be automatically enabled for set apps. This could be useful for WhatsApp or the banking app, for example. Rumours speak that it will also be possible to turn on the feature automatically when you are not at home, or at certain times. The functionality will be applicable to Samsung's OLED panel, with the Magic Flex Pixel technology. This technology was shown by Samsung Display at the MWC in 2024 in the video above. Unknown is whether the S26 and S26+ will also get this feature.
