Samsung rolls out major 'AirDrop' update for Galaxy S26 series in Europe

Samsung has started distributing the second update for the Samsung Galaxy S26 series. The three models will feature the so-called AirDrop update. This will make sharing files with other devices even easier.

AirDrop update for Galaxy S26 series

The Samsung Galaxy S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra are getting the update announced earlier this week. Sander and Dimitri report to us about the update, which is rolling out in Europe as of now. Interestingly, the changelog is silent on the biggest new feature added with this update. Namely, Samsung is making AirDrop functionality available. This makes it possible to easily share files between your Galaxy S26 and an iOS device such as an iPhone. AirDrop is the counterpart of Quick Share on Android.

Once you have downloaded the update, you will see a new option in the Quick Share window. Here you can specify that you want to be able to share your files with Apple devices from now on. So you have to enable this feature manually before the first use.

Interestingly, there is no new security update included for the smartphone series. This means that the security level remains at February 2026. The update has a size of around 868MB. You will get a notification when it is available for download for your device. Not had a notification yet? Then you can manually check for updates via the software settings.
