Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Fold 8 UIltra appear in new photos

Samsung is working on new foldables in the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series. We now see new images of the two models. While we previously heard the name ‘Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide’ that name no longer appears. There will, however, be an Ultra model.

The first comparison between the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra has surfaced. New photos of dummy models show both foldable smartphones side by side, giving you a good idea of the different designs Samsung might offer next year.

Interestingly, rumours suggest that Samsung would no longer release just one Fold model. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 appears to be the wider variant, while the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra actually opts for a taller and slimmer design. This gives users more choice in screen size and user experience. The first model was previously in the news under the name Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide.

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 immediately stands out for its wider screen ratio of 4:3 when opened. This could be especially interesting for those who do a lot of reading, multitasking or watching videos. At the back, this model is said to feature a dual camera setup.

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra focuses more on premium specifications, according to the leaked images. This model has a triple camera setup and a longer design. Earlier rumours suggest that the Ultra will stay closer to the current Fold series in terms of design, but get additional camera features and better hardware.

Possible specifications

Besides the photos, some possible specifications have also emerged. For instance, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is said to feature a 4800mAh battery with support for 45W fast charging. The device would weigh around 201g and feature a new 50-megapixel main camera.

Another interesting rumour is about the hinge and folding screen. According to insiders, Samsung would have further improved the visible screen fold. It would be similar to what is currently seen on rival devices such as the Oppo Find N6, where the fold line is (slightly) less noticeable during daily use.

The models shown are not yet final devices, but dummy copies often used by accessory makers. As a result, minor details may still change before Samsung officially presents the smartphones.

Exactly when the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series will be released is not yet known. If Samsung follows its usual schedule, we will see more in the summer.
