Samsung Galaxy S22: February update causes bootloop for numerous users

Do you own a Samsung Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+ or Galaxy S22 Ultra? Then you would be wise to pay attention. Reports are appearing that the February security update is causing major problems with the Galaxy S22 series.

Problem update for S22

Numerous users are reporting that their device gets stuck in a bootloop after installation: the phone continuously reboots itself and does not get beyond the Samsung logo.

Complaints are pouring in on Reddit and complaints can also be found on X. Normal use is no longer possible and Samsung has not responded as yet. Experts suspect that the update overloads certain hardware components on the motherboard. Extra annoying: most Galaxy S22 devices are now out of warranty, leaving users facing hefty repair costs. A class action lawsuit has already been filed in the US for this reason.

Some users managed to save their device temporarily by clearing the cache via Recovery mode, but for the majority of users this does not work. Several owners also report an extremely fast battery drain, after which the device permanently shuts down.

Good to know: the update in question has not yet been rolled out in the Benelux. If you have a Galaxy S22 device, switch off automatic updates for a while until Samsung comes up with a solution. We will keep an eye on the situation.
