New foldable from Samsung
A new foldable smartphone from Samsung is on the way, writes the doorgaan well-informed yummy Ice Universe. It would be a foldable with a double folding screen. And that is markedly different from the foldable smartphones we already know from the company. The brand already recently came out with the Galaxy Z Flip 7, Flip 7 FE and Fold 7, the former of which we recently covered in our review of the Galaxy Z Flip 7.
Samsung previously indicated that the company would like to release a dual-folding smartphone. During Mobile World Congress in 2023, we already saw Samsung Display's technology. We made the video of that below. Samsung is also not the only one with a dual folding screen. Last year, Huawei released the Mate XT with already such a screen. News already appeared in 2024 that a tri-fold smartphone will be released in 2025.
According to Korean ETNews, Samsung wants to produce 50,000 units of the new device. That is relatively few, but whether the production capacity cannot handle it, or whether little enthusiasm is expected is not known. Due to the small print run, it remains to be seen whether the smartphone will be widely released. The smartphone may well only appear in selected markets. A name for the device is not yet known.
Samsung has also scheduled an announcement tomorrow. Judging by the rumours, here we will see the Galaxy S25 FE and new Tab S11 tablets. Possibly, if the rumour is true, Samsung is already showing a teaser, but information on that is missing.
