We put the home battery from Dutch manufacturer HomeWizard through its paces earlier, in the HomeWizard Plug-In Battery review. A major shortcoming was the ability to smartly charge your home battery. For example, based on current power prices, the weather or your expected energy consumption. For home battery users, there is now good news; because from today, you can smartly charge your Plug-In Battery, HomeWizard reveals.
You can control smart charging via the HomeWizard app. In that app, you can activate smart charging. This works from the latest version, and to use the functionality does not require the Energy+ subscription. The system takes several factors into account, enabling smart charging.
- The local weather forecast and expected power generation
- Your current and expected energy consumption at home
- Current power prices
According to HomeWizard, this new step helps your neighbourhood. By charging 'smart and neighbourhood-friendly', you help stabilise the power grid, reducing the chances of power outages or solar panel failures. If you have a dynamic energy contract, you gain more benefit by charging at the most advantageous times. In the Today view in the HomeWizard app, you will see a dotted line in the battery graph. This indicates the expected charging schedule of the battery, for the rest of the day. The charging schedule adjusts every 15 minutes, based on your power consumption and work up. In doing so, the battery can also take into account, for example, an electric car.
