Xiaomi goes on Apple tour
Apple has apparently provided a lot of inspiration for Chinese Xiaomi. So much inspiration that the brand is going to take over the entire name brand. Noted Xiaomi president Lu Weibing let it be known on Weibo that it will refrain from releasing the Xiaomi 16 series. To be even more competitive, the brand is opting to release Xiaomi 17 models soon. That way, the brand hopes consumers will be able to better compare Xiaomi devices with that of Apple. It would not make sense to attach the number '16' to these devices.

That is not the only similarity Xiaomi has in store. The brand is also adopting the rest of the names from Apple. Thus, it seems there will be no Xiaomi 17 Ultra. In the president's post, the company reveals that three models will be released in the Xiaomi 17 series. These are the Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max. Names that have long been used by Apple. Here, the 17 Pro would be a true flagship in a compact package. The Pro Max would be the most powerful flagship in the industry, the company promises. The smartphones will have the new Snapdragon 8 Extreme Edition on board, also known as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5. According to rumours, the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max will get a 7500 mAh battery, and photos are circulating of a device with a second screen.
Interestingly, the brand wants to show the new smartphones to the public before the end of this month. This will involve an announcement for home country China. Xiaomi first has another announcement in Munich next week, the brand revealed earlier. There, we will get to see the new Xiaomi 15T models.
