Motorbike navigation via Sygic
Sygic has released a new update for its own navigation app. With this update, attention has been paid to those who want to hit the road with their motorbikes. For many motorcyclists, it will be a familiar story, that navigation apps like Google Maps are often not optimised for motorcyclists. Especially not when you want to take a diversion with a fine winding road. Sygic's navigation app has now got features for this.

For the update, Sygic says it not only looked at technology, but also at what motorcyclists find important. Input from motorcyclists themselves was used for this. For motorcyclists, things like height, speed and even the inclination of the bike play a role. Practical things, such as operation with gloves and good screen visibility in different weather conditions, are also important. This is why Sygic has adapted the navigation to these specific needs. For instance, you can choose routes with winding roads, instead of the standard fastest route. Highways and busy main roads can be avoided. There is also a 'round trip' function, which lets you take a different route on the way back.
The interface has also been updated. Important information is clearly displayed on one screen, taking into account how your phone is often partly behind the dashboard of your bike. Among other things, you see the road profile, your current altitude, the inclination of the bike, the distance to the nearest petrol station and the expected arrival time. Operation has been made easier with extra-large buttons for, for example, reporting incidents, stopping the route or the search function.
Weather also plays an important role in Sygic's app. The app shows you what the weather conditions are at your destination when you arrive, and provides notifications along the way when changes occur. In addition, you can share weather updates with other users.
Sygic's update with Motorbike Mode is rolling out to users from now on.
