Listening activity in Spotify
Sweden's Spotify is rapidly adding new features. For instance, we recently saw listening statistics and you can import music from other services. Now it's time for another new feature: sharing listening activity. This allows your friends, for example, to see what music you are listening to, and what your friends are listening to. The feature can be found in Spotify's messaging function. You can only see other users' listening activity if there has been previous contact via the music service's chat function.

You can choose who you want to share listening activity with. You can specify this through the privacy settings. You can see the currently playing song, and the song you have recently listened to. Spotify also lets users view someone else's listening activity, if you don't share it yourself. You can then tap on a song to listen to the track, or you can respond via an emoji.
The same Spotify announcement also says that the Jam feature is coming to Spotify's chat function. Users can add songs and listen to the same playlist at the same time. The changes will be implemented in the music app from now on.
