'Sony comes up with new design for Xperia 1 VIII' (renders)

A new high-end smartphone is on the way from Sony. The Japanese manufacturer is working on the Sony Xperia 1 VIII. If reports that have now appeared are true, the device will have an updated design. This is something we haven't seen from the brand for...

Is this the new Sony Xperia 1 VIII?

Renders of the new Sony Xperia 1 VIII have surfaced on the worldwide web. In this, the Japanese manufacturer's new smartphone will have a different design, compared to what we are used to from Sony. The rudder is not radically changing, but we still see significant changes. In particular, the square camera module at the back stands out. We also see in the images the reference to the Zeiss camera again. Instead of the cameras being placed vertically underneath each other, we see two lenses side by side, with another lens underneath.

The first hints of the new design, come from a case maker. We therefore still have to take the information with a grain of salt, but it is quite possible that we are indeed seeing Sony's new device here. Interestingly, Sony is virtually the only manufacturer to stick to the 3.5-millimetre jack for a headset. This is located at the top of the Sony Xperia 1 VIII. Thereby, at the bottom we see the SIM slot and there is the USB-C connection. Whether the screen bezels on the front will also be considerably thinner, that is not yet immediately revealed.
