Galaxy S21: January update
The January 2026 security update is ready for the Samsung Galaxy S21 series. We get this from DroidApp reader Peter. His device is updated to the latest patch, which along with Google's patches also brings Samsung's own improvements. The update is available as of now for the Samsung Galaxy S21, the S21+ and also the S21 Ultra. At the time of writing, the update is not there (yet) for the Galaxy S21 FE. That device is in a different update cycle.

With the release of the January update for the S21 series, a period of updates comes to an end. In fact, Samsung has removed the Galaxy S21, S21+ and the S21 Ultra from the list of devices that will still receive updates. This means no more new software updates and security updates will appear for the three models. Updates will still continue to be distributed for the Galaxy S21 FE. That device appeared later and currently gets updates once a quarter.
At the moment, there is no immediate cause for concern. In the future, though, it may be wise to look at a successor. For now, Google Play updates, for example, provide a piece of security on your device, but in terms of Android version and security updates from Google and Samsung, there are no further new features on the way.
