Pixel devices get improvements with October update

The October security update will be combined with several improvements for Google Pixel devices. This becomes clear from the changelog shared by the manufacturer.

October update for Pixel

Google Pixel devices, including the XL variant discussed in the Pixel 10 Pro XL review, are being updated with a new update from now on. First of all, the Pixel devices are also getting October security update, but Google has added extras. These include improvements and bug fixes for the Pixel 6, 6 Pro, 6a, 7, 7 Pro, 7a, Tablet, Fold, 8, 8 Pro, 8a, 9, 9 Pro, 9 Pro XL, 9 Pro Fold, 9a, Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro XL

The update mainly makes improvements to the screen, system and user interface. We've put down the changelog with the improvements for you below.

Display and graphics

  • Resolved issues with flickering screen and sudden shutdown under certain conditions
  • Resolved an issue causing occasional frozen or blurred images under certain conditions

System

  • Resolved an issue that occasionally caused system instability under certain conditions

User interface

  • Resolved an issue where a semi-transparent background remained after starting the camera under certain conditions
  • Resolved an issue where the torch status is not displayed in the 'At a glance' widget under certain conditions
  • Resolved an issue where the system UI crashed when starting or stopping casting with the Media Output Switcher under certain conditions

The update will be rolled out in the coming days and weeks. So it may take some time until all users see the update coming in.
