No more Google TV at Philips
In the past, Philips has launched a lot of televisions with Google's software. First, this was Android TV. Later, models with Google TV entered the market. This while the brand also released televisions with Titan OS. TP Vision, the company responsible for Philips TVs, is now discontinuing Google TV, switching completely to Titan OS. Nothing will change for existing models, which will continue to run on the operating system they came with.

According to Philips, the advantage of Titan OS is that you no longer have to download and install all these different applications. With this operating system, all you have to do is place them on the home screen of your television. Yet that too has a downside, as not every service supports Titan OS. You'll get by with Netflix, YouTube, Prime Video, Disney+, HBO Max, Viaplay and a few other services, for instance, but Spotify is missing. Videoland, NPO Start and Belgium's VRT Max can also all be found for Titan OS, but for casting content from your smartphone to the television, things get more complicated. This is because there is no support for Google Cast.
The system itself offers features such as a sports overview with live and upcoming matches, a 'Continue watching' section and a viewing list. You can also partly customise the home screen and get recommendations based on available content. In the future, Philips plans to give users more control over those recommendations.
