Oppo Find X9 Pro review: monster battery brings days of fun

Oppo launched the Find X9 Pro at the end of 2025, packed with features and a good specification list. With new battery technology and a user-friendly interface, for example. What do we think of the Oppo Find X9 Pro in everyday use, you can read about i...

Oppo Find X9 Pro review

Again this year, Oppo is bringing its latest Find X9 series to Dutch shops as the successor to the Find X8 Pro. Besides some exterior changes, there has also been some tinkering under the bonnet of this new Find X9, including even more battery capacity.

Unboxing

Inside the grey box with the number 9 writ large, the first thing we find is the phone itself. In the box itself, Oppo supplies a charging cable, remarkably not a USB-C to USB-C but a USB-A to C cable. Also included is a connector that converts the USB-A connector back to USB-C. A charging adapter is missing and, depending on your own chargers, you might have to buy extra to get optimal charging.

Of course, it also comes with a sim tray tool and the necessary booklets. With the Oppo Find X9 Pro, you won't find a case in the box.

Design and interface

The Oppo Find X9 is mainly a very robust phone with a kind of soft-touch back. The rounded corners make the phone pleasant to hold. On the left side, you will find the "Snap key" a button to which you can assign an action yourself such as activating the torch, translation function or silent mode.

The X9 Pro comes in two colours we have the Slik White variant but there is also a Titanium Charcoal colourway of this device. The frame of the X9 Pro is made of aluminium and the matte back ensures a fingerprint-free experience. The phone is further IP68/IP69 certified for dust and water resistance.

Interface

Oppo uses Android on its devices with its own sauce over it called ColorOS. Anyone who has ever owned and iPhone will find some recognisable elements in ColorOS. For instance, we see some Liquid Glass elements at the unlock screen and plenty of other widgets reminiscent of Apple. But fair is fair once you get used to Oppo's design language, the system works intuitively.

On the home screen, you place widgets with ease and can group apps into folders. The regular app drawer is slightly customisable into, say, 4 or 5 apps per row. You can also use those settings to specify that new apps are not placed on your home screen by default. If you use gesture navigation, swiping down at the top right will bring up the quick settings.

Communication and multimedia

We made plenty of calls with the Oppo Find X9 Pro during the busy December month without experiencing any significant problems. We had fast, ubiquitous coverage and call quality was very good. You'll also find support for all common network technologies from WiFi 7 to 5G on the X9 Pro. You can put two nano SIM cards in the Find X9 Pro or use an eSIM.

The 6.78-inch display is of excellent quality with nice colour reproduction and brightness. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said about the screen protector that comes as standard. This is very scratch-sensitive, something we really don't see happen that easily on other phones. About the AMOLED display, we can further tell that it can be dimmed sufficiently in the dark and that the screen can adjust its refresh rate between 1 and 120 Hertz.

Camera

With this Find X9 Pro, you have a powerful device in your hands in terms of camera, at least on paper. The main sensor of this phone involves a 50-megapixel "Ultra-level" camera. The X9 Pro also features a 200-megapixel telephoto lens from Hasselblad. With this lens, you can zoom in up to 13.2x without losing quality and up to 120x with digital zoom and help from AI. For your wide-angle shots, you can use the 50-megapixel wide-angle camera. A true colour sensor should ensure a true-to-life image in all lighting conditions. Below is a brief overview of the technical specifications of each sensor.

  • Main sensor: 50 megapixel, f/1.5, 23mm focal length, optical stabilisation.
  • Telesensor: 200 megapixel, f/2.1, 70mm focal length, optical stabilisation.
  • Wide-angle sensor: 50 megapixel, f/2.0, 15mm focal length, 120-degree field of view.
  • True Colour sensor: 2 megapixels, light and colour measurement

About the camera setup of this Find X9 Pro, we can say that the results are very consistent. In colour, saturation and sharpness. In the dark, we can still see plenty of detail and persistence, and during the day in grey or bright weather, we are happy with the pictures the X9 Pro delivers. While we were already very satisfied with the camera quality of its predecessor, the same is true of this X9 Pro.

In landscape mode, you can easily use the pressure-sensitive sensor on the top right. This allows you to quickly take a photo, for instance, or if you swipe over this sensor, zoom in and out. Double-pressing this sensor opens the camera and takes a photo instantly.

The front camera on the X9 Pro features autofocus and counts 50 megapixels. The sensor used on the front is the same as the wide-angle sensor on the rear. Photos we took with the Oppo can be viewed in the digital photo album. Below is a video we shot with the device.

We are also very satisfied with the video quality! At 1x zoom, the details are good and the colours seem well balanced, at twice zoom, the image quality already becomes a bit less. Still, you can go either way with the video functions on the Oppo Find X9 Pro, as there is also a pro mode where you can film in LOG.

Performance and battery life

Oppo uses the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset for its X9 Pro. In terms of performance, this chip is not inferior to the competition in the form of Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. Apps open smoothly and we don't suffer from hanging or stuttering apps anywhere. Performance in games is also outstanding and gives you a smooth gaming experience. The 16 gigabytes of working memory and 512 gigabytes of storage are more than enough to serve you in all situations.

Oppo Find X9 Pro ontwerp

We can only be satisfied about the battery capacity, the 7500 mAh battery in our case is good for 3 days without an adapter at a screen time of around 2.5 to 3 hours per day. Charging can be done wired with up to 80 watts (via the SuperVooc standard) and 50 watts wirelessly.

You can definitely squeeze a total of 8 hours of screen time out of this device, ideal if you can't be away from your smartphone! That silicon-carbon batteries show nice scores we also saw with the OnePlus 15 and also the predecessor of this device, the X8 Pro (see the Oppo Find X8 Pro review here) already did well, but so this X9 Pro does even better.

Update policy

The Oppo Find X9 Pro runs on Android 16 and at the time of writing, with December's security patch. You are guaranteed five years of Android updates and six years of security updates with the X9 Pro. While this might be just a little less than the competition, this is not a bad score!

Review

Oppo shows off a fine piece of engineering, a fat battery and excellent camera with the Find X9 Pro. Equipped with all the conveniences and buttons, the X9 Pro gives you a smartphone that will last you for years to come. We do find the choice of a USB-C-to-A cable odd in this price segment. All this beauty does come with a price tag of 1299 euros. You can find the Find X9 Pro at Belsimpel, Coolblue, Mobiel, MediaMarkt, Vodafone, Odido and KPN.
