OnePlus reveals design '15'
OnePlus reveals the new design of the OnePlus 15. Earlier we got to see an image showing the new design, now it is official. In a press release, the manufacturer reveals that it has been working on a new design, and there's also something else about it. Namely, the smartphone will get a special coating over the back. Also, OnePlus lets us know that the device will appear in the 'Sand Storm colour'. We also see the new hotkey to summon OnePlus AI, or attach a quick action of your own.

OnePlus is very excited about the Micro-Arc Oxidation coating the device comes with. According to the brand, it is the first device to come with this coating. Although this is incorrect. In 2013, HTC released the HTC One S, which had a similar coating. Using a plasma process, a ceramic coating is applied to the frame. This makes the centre frame 3.4 times stronger than aluminium and 1.3 times stronger than titanium. The presence of this coating makes the casing more resistant to scratches and other mischief.

The brand will further equip the new OnePlus 15 with Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset. This was presented this week and we first saw it in the Xiaomi 17 series, which was announced for China. OnePlus also promises a new cooling system and a fibreglass back, making the device even more comfortable to hold.
OnePlus is not yet releasing anything about when the new smartphone will be officially presented. However, some photos on Weibo do show the date 27 October. Presumably this will be the Chinese announcement, although it is quite possible that OnePlus will also bring forward the global announcement then.
