A new chapter for Motorola's flip phones, as the brand hopes to set high standards with the Razr 60 Ultra. We used the device extensively recently and you can read all about it in our Motorola Razr 60 Ultra review.
Motorola Razr 60 Ultra review
With the Motorola Razr 60 Ultra, Motorola has a new device in its portfolio and a potentially worthy successor to the Razr 50 Ultra. We have tested the new foldable extensively in recent months, at home and abroad. Time to take stock of this new smartphone!
Unboxing
Motorola delivers its device in a box with fragrance, it really does! According to the brand, this should give the unwrapping an extra experience. Inside the scented box, we of course find the device as well as a matching case that gives your device extra protection from outside influences. Furthermore, we also find a USB-C cable.

Design and interface
First of all, a word about the design of the Razr 60 Ultra, as it is available in different finishes. We have the wood version in the bezel, for instance, but you can also opt for an Alcantara finish, for instance. Thanks to a collaboration with Pantone, the device comes in striking colours. Our wooden variant has very little dirt on the back and there are no scratches after two months either.

When closed, the 4-inch AMOLED screen is nicely integrated into the body and the camera rings also look premium. However, dust does collect quite quickly around the camera rings. In the side of the device are the volume keys a power button with fingerprint sensor and a dedicated AI button. The hinge of the device sounds rock solid and unfolded reveals the 7.0-inch AMOLED main screen. The crease is not noticeable with the screen on, you do feel it slightly when you swipe the screen.

Motorola delivers you the Razr 60 Ultra with Android 15 and a set of tweaks in the form of Hello UI, Moto's software layer. This skin does sit close to Google's original found on the Pixel phones.

What is clear is that Motorola is betting on AI with this device, as Moto's cleverness emerges in several screens and a separate Moto AI button. For instance, it can give summaries of what's on your screen. Remember things for you and be able to ask questions about them later and you'll find some generative AI features like creating images, stickers, and music playlists. The former in collaboration with Perplexity. However, you cannot assign the separate button to its own function. Another drawback at the time of writing is that the AI functions are mainly focused on the English language. Motorola does expect to release Moto AI in Dutch later this year.

Cover screen
You are likely to use the front screen much more often than the main screen. Not only is it extremely readable in full sunlight, it also provides access to basically your entire phone. Replying to a Whatsapp or checking your calendar is all possible. You can launch any app on the screen and use it in a mode where the display stops just above the cameras. Holding down the lower part of the screen displays an app full screen.

We have already visited many a city where we had Google Maps open on the cover screen for navigation. But as a Spotify user, the Spotify widget is also a welcome addition. You will also find shortcuts to contacts, the camera, and entertainment on the screen in the form of games especially for your cover display!

Communication and multimedia
In terms of communication, we can't really detect anything negative about the Razr 60 Ultra. You open the phone and it automatically picks up. The device has support for a nano-SIM and eSIM. In terms of screen, it is clear that we are dealing with a premium device. The colours pop off the screen, the only downside is that the screen on the inside is slightly harder to read in full sunlight. This is partly due to the screen protector, which you absolutely must not remove!

The device features stereo speakers in landscape mode. As the volume gets louder they do become quite shrill, at half volume there is nothing to complain about!
Camera
Granted if you put the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, also a Snapdragon 8 Elite smartphone, next to the Razr 60 Ultra, the Razr has the edge. But that doesn't mean we get bad pictures out of the device. In fact, during the day, the Razr 60 Ultra delivers good pictures. You can zoom in up to 2x with no loss of quality. After that, you'll soon see more pixels. If you use the telephoto zoom lens on your current phone a lot, you'll lose out in that respect. Its predecessor, the Razr 50 did have a telephoto lens but in the Razr 60 we find a wide-angle lens for that.

What we do notice is that the camera is sometimes just a little too slow for photos where there is some movement, resulting in a blurred subject. Especially on slightly greyer days, photos from the Razr 60 Ultra seem a bit underexposed. The portrait function has good sharpness, and using the cover screen for a quality selfie is also a nice touch.

Furthermore, you will find several modes in the camera app to make your photos better including a long exposure city for shooting waterfalls. A Pro mode is also present as well as timelapse, panorama and tilt-shift photography.

In the photo album of this device, you will find more than enough photos to judge for yourself the photographic qualities of the Razr 60 Ultra.

Video
You can shoot movies with the Razr 60 Ultra in up to 8K, 30 frames per second. By default, this is set to 4K, 30FPS. A nice gimmick is that you can hold and use the device in a kind of camcorder mode. Below is a video we shot with the Razr 60 Ultra.
Performance and battery life
In terms of performance, we have nothing to complain about and what we have written before about devices with Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset also applies to this Razr 60 Ultra. Apps open quickly, gaming is smooth and we never notice a hiccup. You get 16GB of working memory and 512GB of storage available for apps, photos, videos and anything else you want to keep on your phone.

The Razr 60 Ultra features up to 68W fast charging and a 4,700mAh capacity battery. What do you get for that, about 4 to 4.5 hours of screen time on the internal display! Add to that an hour of screen time on the cover display and the device scores a nice score. Better than the Xiaomi 15 Ultra we referred to earlier. On average, the battery then lasts 1.5 days before we have to find a charger.
Fast charging, by the way, is not recommended if you also want to use the device at the same time, as the Razr 60 Ultra gets quite warm during fast charging.
Assessment
The Razr 60 Ultra is a distinct flip phone, not only because of its eye-catching colours and materials but also build quality. With flagship performance and a well-thought-out cover screen, it is clear that Motorola understands this type of phone! On a few things, the phone leaves some points unresolved, for instance, we can't assign the AI button to Gemini, the camera is sometimes just a little too slow in capturing and the fast charging makes the phone almost unpleasantly warm. Brightness is also a bit disappointing on sunny days.
The device has a recommended retail price of 1299 euros but thanks to offers you can already find it for less online. Want to get started with the device yourself? You can buy the Razr 60 Ultra at: Coolblue, Bol.com, Belsimpel (extra cheap), Mobiel, MediaMarkt.
