Android 15 for Fairphone 4
Fairphone is a Dutch manufacturer that values the environment. It has already released several smartphones, with the Fairphone 6 earlier this year. Older models are not forgotten by the brand. The Fairphone 4, released in 2021, is now getting a major update. Users can download the update to Android 15. It is a 1.6GB update. To date, the device is running on Android 13.
This means it will skip the update to Android 14. Back in June this year, it was announced that Fairphone chose to skip the update to the 14th version of Android. The company wanted to focus with on the new Android version as the development process is complex.
The Fairphone 4 will get Android 15 with the October security update. There are also new features such as a Private Room with a secure digital vault. in it, you can place sensitive apps and secure them with an extra layer of authentication. There is support for Passkeys, there is theft detection, you can remove the search bar from the home screen and you can use partial screen recording.
The update is rolling out from now. You will get a notification when you are ready to download the update.
