Asus quits smartphones
Taiwanese Asus will stop making smartphones, leaving the smartphone market. The confirmation was given by chairman Jonney Shih, at a gala at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Centre. Although the company is discontinuing smartphones, the brand let it be known that it will still continue with software updates, warranty and the like. Although software updates: in terms of update policy, Asus did not have a very good name. Its 1100-euro high-end model, this year's Zenfone 12 Ultra, gets only two Android updates and five years of security updates.

With its exit from the smartphone market, Asus is turning its attention to the PC market, R&D and physical AI such as robotics and smart glasses. In recent years, the manufacturer has already released fewer devices. Asus released only two smartphones in 2025; the Zenfone 12 Ultra and the ROG Phone 9 FE.
