A month with plenty of news, that's October in a nutshell. DroidApp got to travel to Prague to test the camera of the new OnePlus 15. That smartphone has already been announced for China, and will be announced for Europe in November. But we shared more news. For instance, Google has changed its strategy regarding security updates for Android. No longer do you get to know everything about it right on release.

There were major outages in October. At Amazon and at Microsoft. This caused a large number of services to be down for a while. Think NS, Duolingo and many other services. If you are a KPN customer, you might just experience problems near the German border. The provider has now acknowledged these problems.

Oppo presented its new high-end models in the Oppo Find X9 series. Nothing presented the Nothing Phone (3a) Lite for 249 euros. Unlike other devices from the brand, the luminous back here is just an LED light. The brand also showed the new 'Essential', which should be a step towards a personal AI operating system. Samsung showed off its new Galaxy XR headset, tapping into a new chapter in tech. Oppo also presented its new ColorOS 16 skin, while OnePlus introduced us to OxygenOS 16.

A major update was released in October for Komoot. The application allows you to create hiking or cycling routes at home and abroad. You can create these all by yourself, but you can also choose from numerous routes created by other users. After the update, you will see a refinement of the interface with new colours, a font and icons. More illustrations are also used. Also, several sections in the app have been revised again.

Music service Spotify also made some improvements in October. From now on, you have more influence on your algorithm, so that even better the music you like is presented to you. It has also linked up with ChatGPT. From now on, you can use the AI service to create a perfect Spotify playlist. Finally, an option has been added that lets you track concert venues. That way, you are always aware when your favourite artist goes on tour.

You already know Duolingo as an app to learn a new language, but in recent years more options have been added. For instance, it is possible to brush up on your maths with exercises. Recently, you can also learn to play chess in Duolingo. You get to learn various tactics and tricks, after which you can also practice an entire game of chess against the computer if necessary.
