Xiaomi presents Xiaomi 15T and 15T Pro in Munich

Xiaomi 15T series announced

DroidApp is in Munich this afternoon for the announcement of two new smartphones from Xiaomi. The manufacturer talks about an evolution of the T series, with even more powerful photography, a refined design and improved image quality. And that while Xiaomi has been proving for years that it puts out devices that succeed just fine in this. We wrote about this in the Xiaomi 15 review earlier this year, and we also raved about the camera's performance in our Xiaomi 15 Ultra review.

Xiaomi 15T Pro

Camera

With the Xiaomi 15T series, most of the focus is on the improved camera. Once again, a collaboration with Leica has been chosen and the brand promises improved image quality. The Xiaomi 15T Pro is the more comprehensive of the two; offering a main camera, wide-angle lens and a new Leica 5x Pro telephoto lens. Instead of the latter, the 15T only offers a telephoto lens. Through the use of lenses, the 15T Pro offers a range of 15mm to 230mm, so you can also get subjects far away, up close. This results in 5x optical zoom, 10x optical-quality zoom and 20x ultra zoom.

In the Xiaomi 15T Pro, you achieve a maximum aperture of f/1.62, where it is f/1.7 in the normal model. In the Pro, the Light Fusion 900 sensor should allow you to capture details in dark environments even better. The smartphones both offer a 32-megapixel front camera. Filming can be done in 4K 120fps.

The Xiaomi 15T cannot film in 8K, but it can film in 4K. In doing so, it offers extensive capabilities with Leica styles, a manual mode and several additional options. The Pro model can also film with HDR10+, across all focal lengths, making your videos look even more beautiful.

Connectivity

It's not just on the camera front that we can expect improvements. Xiaomi claims that the necessary improvements have also been made in terms of connectivity. These include the introduction of Xiaomi Offline Communication. At a distance of up to 1.9 kilometres, you can use the 15T Pro (or at 1.3 kilometres the 15T) to communicate without mobile or WiFi signals. This should work in open environments such as jungles, deserts and remote hiking trails, according to the brand. The functionality only works for the 15T models for now. Xiaomi plans to add it in future devices.

There are also antenna improvements, with mobile performance improved and signal performance maximised. This is going on not only for the mobile network, but also for WiFi and GPS.

Screen and specs

In terms of screens, there is a 6.83-inch screen: an AMOLED panel with a brightness of 3200 nits, so you can read everything just fine on sunny days. The screen offers 1.5K resolution and features a refresh rate of up to 144Hz on the 15T Pro and 120Hz on the 15T.

A 5500 mAh battery is present with both models. There is support for 67W fast charging on the 15T, 90W on the Pro, and you can also charge 50W wirelessly. On board the 15T Pro is the MediaTek Dimensity 9400+ chipset, while on the Xiaomi 15T we encounter the Dimensity 8400 Ultra. A special Xiaomi 3D IceLoop system should ensure efficient cooling of the phone.

The brand has paid more attention to the design of the phones, with rounded corners. Corning Gorilla Glass 7i is used and should be more resistant to scratches. The phones offer IP68 certification against water and dust. The 15T Pro has a frame made of high-grade 6M13 aluminium alloy, and should offer improved drop protection.

The two devices come to market with Android 16, along with Xiaomi's own skin: HyperOS. Immediately, then, we find the new HyperOS 3 skin. The update policy has also been announced immediately. Xiaomi will give both devices six years of security updates. Four Android updates will appear for the 15T; five new Android versions can be expected for the 15T Pro.

Availability

Xiaomi is releasing the smartphones with Android 16 and HyperOS 3.0. The 15T will be released in black, grey and 'rose gold'. For the 15T Pro, you can choose from black, grey and mocha gold. The price of the 15T comes out at 649.99 euros. For 799.99 euros, you will get the Xiaomi 15T Pro shipped to your home.
